Program Description

Chemical engineering is one of the most fundamental engineering disciplines that impacts nearly every facet of life. The efficient production of food, pharmaceuticals, fuels, semiconductors, polymers, and various chemicals, as well as research in sustainable environment and energy, biomedical technology and nanotechnology are driven by the ingenuity of chemical engineers.

Graduates from the Chemical Engineering department will find employment in a variety of industry and research facilities, as well as government, medicine, patent law, technical marketing and other such fields. Students have worked in food production, pharmaceuticals, energetic materials, semiconductor processing, biofuels, and have also pursued research at the national laboratories.

Throughout the Chemical Engineering curriculum, students will be able to foster innovation and champion ideas through effective communication. They learn how to design solutions to answer questions such as “how can this process be made safer?”, “how can this process be made more efficient?” and so on. This is accomplished through a combination of insightful teaching, challenging laboratory experiences, unique research opportunities and internships. Furthermore, the program is reviewed by an external advisory board of industry and research professionals to ensure that students are well-prepared for successful careers in the modern scientific world
